My husband Brett and I grew up in Farmington, Missouri, and have been married for 14 years. We have been blessed with two unique and amazing children, Tori, who is 10, and Bennett, who is 7. I love to read and spend time with my family and friends. I have taught elementary school for eleven years and am currently a second grade teacher at Dillard Street Elementary here in Winter Garden. I have been teaching children’s Bible classes since I was a teen, and I have been working with the children here at West Orange for nearly three years. I want our kids to know God loves them and has a purpose for their life, and there is truly nothing more amazing than watching them grow and begin to live purposefully for Christ. I can’t wait to see what God has in store for our children and what He will continue to teach me through them!
I became a Christian on April 21st, 1974, at the age of 19, not having been raised in a religious family. I simply read the Bible, cover to cover, and the result was faith in Christ. I found out that several classmates were praying for me during some of my reckless years. Many years later one of those classmates who’d been praying for me told me that his faith was strengthened tremendously when he’d heard I’d become a Christian. He said he knew with God anything is possible if Jerry Jaskot could change. We remain close friends to this day. My walk with Christ, since the beginning, has been an exciting adventure and it just keeps getting better; not that my life is charmed or that everything has gone my way (far from it), but that I get to experience God’s faithfulness and presence everyday , in spite of the fallenness of our world (and ourselves). I have a Masters degree in Exercise physiology, love to play (especially to surf), but my career path has led me from teaching and coaching sports, to owning and operating an appliance dealership (go figure!). I’m a private pilot and our family has had the privilege of travelling extensively to Central America and the Caribbean via small plane. Another of those who prayed for me later agreed to become my wife- Cheryl and I have 5 grown children and at present 4 grandchildren. We’ve been at West Orange for over 20 years.
I am married to my lovely wife Beth and have three wonderful children, 2 dogs, 3 hermit crabs and a neighborhood deer with only three working legs, affectionately known as “Tri-Pod”. I’m a principal with CNL Commercial Real Estate and specialize in the disposition and management of religious and educational real estate across the country. I have a degree in History from the University Of Central Florida and enjoy reading, watching hockey (especially Red Wings hockey) and taking trips with my family. Planted moles within my house (aka, the children) claim my 3 favorite past times are actually laying on the couch, laying on the bed and laying on the floor. Technically, those are actually all one past time so I vehemently disagree with their exaggeration. Our family has been at West Orange since 2002 and I have been a shepherd since 2009. I enjoy being with the WO church family and teaching class, especially in the areas of apologetics, church history and any kind of exegetical study. I love Jesus but hate religion as it is a poor substitute for the real thing, a relationship with the Creator. Ephesians 2:4-10
